MARC RAMSBOTHAM:
Marc is a 34-year-old commercial fitter from Norfolk, England, who has ridden, worked on and enjoyed motorcycles for many years.

His racing career began as a bit of fun in 1998 aboard a 250 cc Kawasaki KR-1. His first race meeting on the 12-year-old machine competing in the 400 supersport class saw him come home with two thirds and a second, along with Rookie of the meeting. He had done so well that the club persuaded him to compete again in the next meeting. Where again Marc rode a fast and mature race, but discovered that to be at the top wouldn't just take his ability as a good rider but also required quicker more modern machinery.

In 1999 he decided to bite the bullet and purchase a more modern bike, an Aprilla 250 RS, he entered the 400 Supersport class and 600 Rookie class for the season. Marc was having an exceptional year with consistent first and second places and looked set to win the championship and Rookie of the year when things took a turn for the worst.

The next meeting at Lydden Hill saw Marc once again leading the race, when a 600 machine started to have serious engine problems spilling oil and smoke all over the circuit, Marc who was directly behind him was unable to pass and before he was able to do anything about it was heading straight for the barriers, after hitting the barrier it soon became apparent that Marc had received serious injuries. After being taken to hospital he was told he had broken his neck, shoulder and collarbone.

After spending six weeks in hospital and months of recovery Marc was back on form to see the racing season coming to an end. A few months on and with Marc's desire and ambition he was back on the bike racing and beating all of his competitors in horrible conditions at Silverstone.

2000 was hopefully going to be his year for the championship, but down to mechanical failures thoughout the season saw him finishing a frustrating third overall.

2001 Marc was out of action for the whole season due to a serious wrist injury sustained at the end of 2000, which wouldn't set properly leaving Marc with several trips to the specialist ending in surgery.

2002 came seeing Marc back in the riders seat competing in the Ducati Monster series as a back up race for the British Super Bikes. Marc had to adjust to the bike at the beginning of the season, as well as still healing from past injuries, but towards the middle of the season was coming home with good results.

During this season Marc purchased an Aprilia Millie RSV 1000, with this three year old machine he decided to take part in the Aprilia Challenge to gain some more experience and to see how well he could do. With everyone's surprise and delight Marc's riding style and ability saw him obtaining several third place finishes against some very competitive machines and was reported in the newspapers.

2003 has seen Marc having a successful year despite being out of action for the first part of the season due to a freak training accident, which left him with a fractured skull and collarbone but once again Marc's determination saw him putting in fast and consistent times with top four finishes. At the time of writing this Marc is currently lying forth in the challenge on his 2003 model machine, achieving some of the best times of his career.

2004 has seen Marc have huge success and finishing the year 2nd overall, if  Marc could of had a just a little less bad luck he would of won! With Marc's success in then Aprillia Challenge Cup he has decided to take a year out to spend some quality time with his young family. When he returns it will be to a new class of racing!

2006 riding under #48 he competed at a number of Road races including The International Gold Cup at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough, and the Ulster Grand Prix where he was placed as high as 3rd . Marc surprised many spectators and fellow competitors with his consistent qualifying pace and race results. Often starting on the front row along-side the best that road racing can offer.

2007 is seeing Marc continue on the road racing scene. This year Marc intends to enter for the prestigious TT races.
